Come Celebrate the Rail Corridor Purchase Saturday, Nov 17
Ribbon Cutting and Bike Ride
After more than 10 years of work, the rail line is finally ours!
Come celebrate the Regional Transportation Commission's rail corridor purchase on Saturday, November 17th at the Right on Track: Rail Corridor Ribbon Cutting event. Whistle Stop celebrations will be held in Watsonville, Aptos, Capitola, Live Oak and the Swift Street Courtyard on the Westside of Santa Cruz. Each event is free and will feature speakers, live music, history displays and refreshments. Free train rides up the coast will be available from the Westside Santa Cruz event every hour between 2 and 6 pm. Ticket giveaways will take place at each event, and standby seats may be available on hourly train runs.
Join People Power and Green Ways to School for a bike ride along the rail line! Meet at 7:30 am at Verve on 41st for a road ride out to the first event in Watsonville. On the way back, we will be stopping at each of the parties. Feel free to join us at any stop as we head towards the main event at the Swift Street Courtyard. Please note we'll be leaving Watsonville around 9:30 am to head to the Aptos event. The ride will take place rain or shine, so be prepared and hope for the sun!
