Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Beach Street Bike Lanes

People Power and several other bicycle organizations will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of the completion of the Beach Street bike Lanes. The lanes connect the river levee path to the Westside and with the yet-to-be-built Coastal Rail Trail from Davenport to Monterey.
The ceremony will be from noon to 1pm on Tuesday, December 13th (NOT at 4pm as stated in our fundraising letter), by the Boardwalk, near the Ideal Grill. Councilmember Tim Fitzmaurice will cut the ribbon, officially opening the lanes. There will be refreshments and socializing after the ribbon cutting, as well as booths from lots of bike organizations.
These new lanes would not have been possible without the commitment and hard work of Cheryl Schmitt, Tom Sharpe and everyone else at the Public Works department. They deserve a big thank you. Attendance at the ribbon cutting will serve as encouragement for upcoming bike projects, including Soquel bike lanes.
